Maryland suspends LB Lukas Foreman for one year

Maryland has announced that Lukas Foreman, who redshirted during the 2011 season, has been suspended from the football team for one year because of a violation of the school’s Student-Athlete Code of Conduct.

In a statement released by the school, Athletic Director Kevin Anderson said: “Being a University of Maryland student-athlete carries a tremendous honor and responsibility. As much as we appreciate the effort this young man gave to the program this season, he was unable to live up to that responsibility. We are certainly disappointed, but hope that he will use this as a learning experience.”

Foreman, a freshman from Naples, Fla., was a defensive back during the 2011 season in which he sat out. He moved to linebacker before spring practice.

On Maryland’s pre-spring practice depth chart, Foreman was listed as a backup linebacker.
