If there is a headliner of Maryland’s class, many believe that it is running back Wes Brown of Good Counsel. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Brown runs a 4.5 40-yard dash and has a 33-inch vertical leap, according to Rivals.com.
A second-team All-Met, Brown committed to Maryland in early January on national television during the Under Armour All-American game. Other schools that Brown seriously considered were Vanderbilt, Colorado and Miami.
“Just staying home with my mom, make sure everything’s good back home and not go off too far so she won’t have to worry,” Brown said when asked why he chose Maryland. “My support is back home.”
Brown had received more than 40 scholarship offers. He missed one game and parts of three others because of a knee injury last season. But he still rushed for 1,382 yards and 22 touchdowns as the Falcons went 12-0 and captured a third consecutive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title.
No question Maryland was in need of adding a capable running back to go along with Justus Pickett.
