Mackall was suspended indefinitely Wednesday for a violation of team rules. Edsall said Thursday that Mackall didn’t start Saturday’s loss to Boston College because he was late for a team meeting on game day. Edsall did not say if that was the reason for the suspension.

Mackall, a sophomore who moved up to the line from linebacker this season, has six tackles for a loss this season, tied for the team lead with redshirt freshman linebacker Lorne Goree. He is second on the team in sacks with three, again behind Goree (3.5).

Redshirt sophomore Marcus Whitfield is listed behind Mackall on the team’s latest depth chart.
