After two of his three receptions Saturday against West Virginia resulted in touchdowns, Maryland’s Stefon Diggs has been named the ACC rookie of the week.

Diggs, a Good Counsel product, finished with 113 receiving yards and touchdown receptions of 42 and 56 yards. Each included substantial yards after the catch, and the former finished with a four-yard dive at full extention past the near pylon.

The true freshman also had 88 return yards, his second straight game tallying at least 200 all-purpose yards.

“It’s the same we said last week and the week before,” Coach Randy Edsall said after Maryland’s 31-21 loss Saturday. “He’s a dynamic player. He’s a guy that makes things happen. He’s a game-changer. I guess we’ve got to find more ways to get him the ball more.”

Two weeks ago, quarterback Perry Hills was named the ACC rookie of the week after three total touchdowns in Maryland’s 36-27 victory at Temple.

The Terps enter their bye week at 2-2. The ACC announced that Maryland’s first conference opener against Wake Forest, on Oct. 6 at Byrd Stadium, will kick off at 3:30 p.m., broadcast on ESPNU.
