The end of the hunt for Osama bin Laden brought the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, back into sharp focus for many. In the decade since the attacks, Americans have mourned the fallen by constructing memorials, from personal mementos in backyard gardens to soaring sculptures and acres of forest.

Here’s a small collection of September 11 memorials in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Here’s how to add a memorial you know about:

— Type the address into the “Search” window.

— When you find it, click the pink balloon marker to add the location to the map.

— Select the arrow tool and click on your marker to add a title, description, link and photos.
