D.C. pools open to dogs for one day only

D.C. pools are going to the dogs — for one day, at least.

Officials announced that the annual Doggie Day Swim will be held Sept. 10 at Upshur and Banneker pools, located at 4300 Arkansas Ave. NW and 2500 Georgia Ave. NW, in the District.

This is the third year that city pools, which close to the public after Labor Day, will be opened to dogs.

“This annual event provides dogs with a one day opportunity to enjoy a swim and play games,” wrote Parks and Recreation officials in a press release. The pools will be open noon to 4 p.m. next Saturday and admission will be free to residents and their pooches.

Department of Health representatives will also attend the event to provide health and safety information.
