Washington Post reporter Juliet Eilperin is among the recipients of the fourth annual Peter Benchley Ocean Awards.

The awards, which celebrate the efforts of “Jaws” author Peter Benchley to educate people about the importance of protecting sharks and aquatic ecosystems, will be handed out Saturday evening at George Washington University.

Other recipients include Costa Rica’s president, Laura Chinchilla, Conservation International scientist Greg Stone, Pew Fellow in Marine Conservation Steve Palumbi, retired U.S. Coast Guard Adm Thad Allen, student activist Rudy Sanchez and Kathy Fletcher, founder of People for Puget Sound.

This year’s award categories include science, policy, solutions and media.
