Leonardo DiCaprio & the FBI: D.C.’s blogs

Good afternoon. It’s spring in D.C. — though it probably doesn’t feel like it today. But this weekend is chock-full of great activities, including the start of the 2011 Cherry Blossom Festival and the National Marathon. In the D.C. area blogosphere today, we’ve also got tips for those who’d like to do a little stargazing: DCist tells us that Leonardo DiCaprio is in town filming his new flick. And bargain fashionistas? We Love DC has some good news.

From Prince of Petworth – today’s lawn decoration of the day, with a southwestern twist (and it’s a doozy).

We Love DC is pleased to report that a Nordstrom Rack will be opening in Friendship Heights this May. It’ll take the spot along Wisconsin Avenue formerly occupied by Linen ’n Things.

A little something for your Facebook page? DCist reports via the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development that the J. Edgar Hoover biopic staring Leonardo DiCaprio will be filming this weekend in “downtown D.C.”

And the winner is … Georgetown Dish talks to the homeowners who decided to crowdsource the color they’d paint their Georgetown home. The votes are still being counted, but it looks like “storm” – a lovely gray – may be the winner.

From D.C. Recycler – a primer on CSA’s or community supported agriculture arrangements — an option to consider if you’d like to eat foods grown locally. Details of what you should know and whether a CSA is right for you.

That’s it for now. Thanks for reading and stay warm. I’ll be back tomorrow with more great posts from the D.C. area blogosphere. In the meantime, know of a great blog that we’re missing? Let me know by posting below or by sending me an e-mail at

Lori Aratani writes about how people live, work and play in the D.C. region for The Post’s Transportation and Development team.
