Mayor Gray’s birthday wish; asteroid to just miss Earth (#PMBuzz)

You mean you don’t want a do-over? After the year of staffing scandals he’s had, Mayor Gray’s wish for his 69th birthday today wasn’t the obvious choice. (Gray says he wants statehood for D.C.)

Just when you thought the world was going to explode, it appears we’ll actually come pretty close: The largest asteroid to come this close to Earth since 1976 will zip past us at 30,000 mph.

Medical school professor not teaching, giving all As. Venetia Orcutt resigned from George Washington University last month, and now the university is investigating allegations that she did not teach some of her classes but gave all of those students As.

Teen shot in Georgetown on Halloween dies. The teen, who was shot in Georgetown, was one of six victims in the outbreak of violence in D.C. on Oct. 31.
