Paul Fournier, a D.C. based patent lawyer, after his impromptu performance with Paul Simon. (By Kristin Mowry)

Paul Fournier, a 42-year-old patent attorney from the District, was in the audience at Simon’s Constitution Hall show last night when he noticed the crooner was having difficulty remembering the words to his song “Gumboots.” Fournier, who was in the front row, shouted out the lyrics only to have his dream — and likely the dream of every other fan — come true.

“Well, why don’t you come up and sing it?” asked Simon.

Reliable Source reports that, according to Washington Post colleague Joe Heim, Fournier “pretty much stole the show.”
