‘Supermoon’: Did you miss it?

One thing appeared to take some people’s attention off college hoops, including the thrilling finish of the Butler-Pitt game tonight: the “supermoon.”

The Capital Weather Gang explained the phenomenon Friday. Apparently the moon today was at its closest approach to Earth in its orbit, which makes it appear bigger — and that was enhanced by the fact that the moon was almost full.

“It will be the largest full moon that you’ve seen or you’ll see this year,” Geoff Chester of the U.S. Naval Observatory told The Post’s Martin Weil.

And while the science is interesting, some of the pictures are quite stunning. Check out some submitted by Post users and submit your own. Or share your moon tales in the comments.
