With less than 48 hours left before the federal government shuts down, House Republicans and Senate Democrats seem no closer to a deal on the extent of cuts that should be included in a budget deal.
The blame game is already under way with Republicans insisting that $33 billion in cuts is simply not enough and Democrats trying to paint the GOP as too beholden to its tea party wing to make a reasonable compromise.
Polling on a shutdown suggests that it could ultimately be a “lose, lose” political gambit for the two parties with the public adopting a “pox on both on your houses” attitude.
We tackle the complicating political dynamics involved in a shutdown in today’s episode of “Fast Fix”. Don’t forget to check out all of our “Fast Fix” videos here. And, if you have a topic you want to see us break down in “Fast Fix” just email email@example.com with it.
