Jon Huntsman raised $4.1 million since launching his presidential campaign last week, a total that includes some of the candidate’s own money.

The former Utah governor’s campaign will not actually have to file a second quarter report because of how late he entered the race, but campaign officials confirmed the fundraising figures in the hours before the second quarter fundraising period came to an end Thursday night.

Huntsman is expected to be one of the stronger fundraisers in the field, but we will have to wait until the end of the third quarter of the year before matching him up against the likes of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

Second-quarter reports are due July 15, but campaigns are expected to release their totals as early as Friday.
