If you are looking for some good political analysis while you await tonight's returns, here is a recent newsletter you might like. It is the work of Steve Lombardo, a Republican pollster, unattached to any of the campaigns this year.  Steve and I worked together in the ’90s for corporate clients, and I have always found his political work as well to be outstanding.

The link offers some interpretation slightly at odds with some of what you may have been reading.  Steve has Santorum surging in the final 72 hours, buoyed by his raw appeals on "values," which have been controversial at best among many, but are playing well, in the poll's results, to Republican voters. (Sometimes we need to be reminded of the obvious.)  He has Romney winning Michigan, but barely, and perhaps losing the delegate count due to the way delegates are proportioned.

Finally, he sees a long road ahead for Romney, but no brokered convention.
