Did I just hear the sounds of the Republican presidential candidates getting their keisters kicked? It may be their night, but President Obama made sure it wasn’t their afternoon. In a news conference straight out of the movie, “The American President,” Obama looked, well, like a president. He is feeling his oats and his poll numbers, and his swagger, which never disappeared but looked tired, is back.
When asked about recent hawkish comments by Mitt Romney and Rick Santorumon Iran, Obama dropped in a trey: “What is said on the campaign trail — these people don’t have a lot of responsibilities. They're not commander in chief.”
Did it not remind you of Michael Douglas saying, if I recall, “This is a time for serious people, Bob, [his opponent], and your 15 minutes is up. My name is Andrew Shepherd, and I am the president.” Any questions?
