Fairfax’s Alliance Theatre pulls off ‘Hairspray’ flash mob

It’s apparently a standard promotional trick for local productions of the Broadway musical “Hairspray” to do a flash mob production of “You Can’t Stop the Beat.” But western Fairfax County’s family-oriented Alliance Theatre pulled off a very entertaining one in the middle of Fairfax Corner on Friday evening, then posted a well-edited video, which is below.

Alliance Theatre features families working together on full-fledged productions, and they’ve got “Little Shop of Horrors” coming up in the fall. Let’s see them get that giant plant into a flash mob. “Hairspray”will hit the boards at Chantilly High School at the end of this month. Go here for more info and tickets.
