The Asia Society has announced that Tom Nagorski will join the organization as executive vice president, overseeing programming across the fields of arts, business, culture, education and policy in the United States and Asia.

Nagorski has most recently served as managing editor for international news at ABC News, where he has spent the past two decades. Recently, he has lead ABC News coverage of the killing of Osama bin Laden and Japan’s tsunami and nuclear crisis, and has covered Thailand, Burma, Laos, Indonesia, the Thai-Cambodian border, China, India, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

“I have admired the organization for a long time — and of course watched as the influence and importance of Asia have grown, in such extraordinary ways,” Nagorski said.

Nagorski will begin his post Oct. 1 and will head up Asia Society until the successor to Vishakha N. Desai is selected.
