New America’s Steve Clemons to The Atlantic

New America Foundation’s Steve Clemons has joined the Atlantic Media Company as Editor-in-Chief of AtlanticLIVE and Washington Editor-At-Large for The Atlantic..

Clemons, who helped launch NAF twelve years ago, will remain a senior fellow as he assumes his new role at The Atlantic. He will also move his popular Washington Note blog to The Atlantic.

AtlanticLIVE has emerged as one of Washington’s premier event centers, which includes the Washington Ideas Forum and The Atlantic Meets the Pacific. Clemons role will include “developing concepts and editorial content; recruiting speakers; and leading programs personally as an interviewer, moderator and host,” according to a statement. He will also make frequent contributions to the website and the magazine.

“Steve is one of those individuals who can best be described as a ‘force of nature.’ He is an entrepreneur and an impresario,” said Atlantic Media president Justin Smith. “Steve is an original thinker, with a huge appetite for ideas, and a knack for framing them intelligently in print, online and in live settings.”
