Liberals pay more in Utah smoothie shop; surcharge goes to conservative groups

A conservative shop owner is charging liberals an extra dollar for smoothies in his new I Love Drilling Juice and Smoothie Bar in Vernal, Utah.

George Burnett, a pro-oil and gas activist, told KSL5, the local NBC affiliate, that he donates the extra money to conservative organizations such as the Heritage Foundation.

“I’m very open about it, very public about it, that I’m going to charge them a little bit more, and I have liberals come in and pay the extra dollar surcharge,” Burnett said.

Although he can only count three liberals who have paid it, Burnett is sure he’s helping the cause.

“We have a fiscal problem in this country,” Burnett said. “We’ve got to deal with it, or we don’t have a country, so to kind of help make that point, just a little bit, I charge (liberals) just a little bit more.”
