CBS yanked Monday night’s season-finale episode of its comedy series “Mike & Molly,” owing to the episode’s reference to a tornado hitting Chicago.
“Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight’s season finale of ‘Mike & Molly,’ which has a related storyline,” a CBS spokesman said in a statement issued to the press.
“A repeat broadcast of ‘Mike & Molly’ will run in the time period. The season finale will be broadcast at an appropriate date,” the rep added.
At least two are dead after severe weather with tornado activity hit Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa and Illinois over the weekend; on Monday, a tornado as much as reportedly two miles wide flattened neighborhoods, in the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore, where, in May of 1999 a massive tornado wiped out large swaths of the town, killing 41 people.
