The actor, star of the network’s sitcom “How I Met Your Mother,” hosted the show in 2009.

In addition to officially confirming NPH’s role — his name has been rumored for days — the network confirmed several dates for summer programming. Among the highlights:

* “Big Brother,” in which another group of attention-starved people moves into a house together for the summer, premieres Thursday, July 7.

* “Same Name,” a new reality series that swaps the lives of celebs and everyday people with — you guessed it — the same name, kicks off Sunday, July 24.

* Wayne Brady of “Whose Line is it Anyway?” fame will host the Daytime Emmy Awards on Sunday, June 19.
