Allen staffing up as campaign moves forward

Former governor and senator George Allen is fleshing out his top campaign staff as he seeks reelection in 2012 to the Senate seat he lost to Jim Webb (D) in 2006.

Richard Crouse, who has been serving as political director for the Republican Party of Virginia, will be political director for the campaign.

As we’ve already reported, he named Terri Hauser as policy director and former Republican National Committee spokeswoman Katie Wright as the campaign’s press secretary.

Like campaign manager Mike Thomas, Hauser is a longtime Allen aide, who served as Allen’s liaison to Washington while he was governor and as director of communications for his successful 2000 campaign for Senate.

Noah Rogers, a 2000 Allen campaign aide who has been serving as scheduler to Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, will serve as scheduler for the campaign.

Rosalind Helderman is a political enterprise and investigations reporter for the Washington Post.
