On Wednesday, he announced a trio of hires to help him try to defeat Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli in the GOP primary. And all are familiar faces.

Longtime political operative Boyd Marcus will be general consultant. Clients of his firm, Marcus & Allen, include House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and former governor and senator George Allen’s campaign for U.S. Senate. (And yes, Marcus’s son, Randy, is Bolling’s chief of staff).

Christie Heath, who worked for Gov. Bob McDonnell and former attorney general Jerry Kilgore, will be finance director.

Trixie Averill, a Republican activist and former Virginia state director for Americans for Prosperity, will be the political director in western Virginia.
