Doctors at the Fairfax Inova Heart and Vascular Institute told the family that the surgery went as expected, his staff said. Herrity, 52, who is currently recovering in the hospital’s intensive care unit, could be out of the hospital in four to six days and fully recovered within about a month.

Herrity, 52, underwent open heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm and address an arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, that came to light last fall.
