Fairfax County Supervisor John C. Cook, a Republican seeking reelection in the bellwether Braddock District, has signed up Virginia ’s conservative Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli for a fundraiser next month, the county party said Friday on Twitter.

Cook won the seat held by Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova (D) for more than two decades before Bulova became chairman, and Democrats would like very much to get it back. Two Democrats — Chris Wade, a businessman running his first campaign for elective office, and Janet Oleszek, a former school board member who nearly knocked off Cuccinelli in a state Senate race — are facing off in the Aug. 23 primary to see who will be on the Democratic Party ticket challenging Cook.

But with the latest fundraising data showing that mild-mannered Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling has raised more money than the controversial Cuccinelli, maybe Cook should dial up Bolling to bring in even more. Bolling is running for governor in 2013; Cuccinelli is seeking reelection but has not ruled out a governor’s campaign.
