McDonnell, Bolling celebrate birthdays by raising money

Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) and Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling (R) both celebrate birthdays Wednesday. And they will both celebrate in a very political way: raising money.

McDonnell, who turns 57, will hold a birthday dinner at the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing in Richmond. About 50 people are expected and his political action committee, Opportunity Virginia, is likely to bring in up to $100,000, according to McDonnell’s top political adviser Phil Cox.

Bolling, who turns 54, will host his 18th annual “Burgers with Bill” fundraiser at the Virginia Center in Glen Allen. About 350 people are expected, according to his chief of staff Randy Marcus.

Last year, for the first time, proceeds from Bolling’s event went to his campaign for governor. No word yet on how much will be raised at this year’s event.
