Looks like Gov. Bob McDonnell has been reading Washington Post sports columnist Mike Wise’s piece about heart vs. head NCAA bracket picks.
The Virginia governor, an avid fan of his beloved Notre Dame sports teams, has gone with his heart and predicted the Fighting Irish will make it to the finals of the NCAA basketball championship.
But it looks like his head won out at the end and he predicted Notre Dame will lose out to Duke in the series’ final round.
That’s according to the governor’s handwritten bracket, posted to his Facebook page late Monday.
As for loyalty to Virginia teams, McDonnell showed just a bit, predicting that University of Richmond will defeat Vanderbilt in the first round (really, Gov? Really?!) and George Mason University will advance past Villanova.
But he’s got VCU falling to Georgetown after winning Wednesday’s play-in game and Hampton losing to Duke and he predicts GMU and UR fall in the second round.
The White House hasn’t yet released President Obama’s bracket for the year. Could we suggest a presidential, gubernatorial pool?
