Gov. Bob McDonnell, chairman of the Republican Governors Association and a much mentioned vice presidential contender, will appear on two Sunday morning talk shows to debate the 2012 elections.

McDonnell, who is backing former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, and former congressman J.C. Watts, a supporter of former House speaker Newt Gingrich, will square off on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.

McDonnell will be joined by his friend and neighbor to the north, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, on CNN’s State of the Union with Candy Crowley.

It’s not the first time McDonnell and O’Malley have sparred. And it won’t likely be the last, since both are showing up on pundits’ lists of potential national candidates.

McDonnell will appear in a studio in Richmond.
