Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) will speak at the funeral Monday for Virginia Tech police officer Deriek W. Crouse who was killed during a traffic stop last week.

The 2 p.m. service will be at Cassell Coliseum on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg.

Crouse, 39, an Iraq war veteran and retired Army reservist, is survived by his wife, Tina Crouse; a son from a previous marriage, Dustin Crouse; and four stepsons.

State police said Crouse was making a traffic stop Thursday when 22-year-old Radford student Ross Truett Ashely walked up to his cruiser and shot him. Ashely was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a nearby parking lot. Police are still searching for a motive.
