Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s bid to get the Supreme Court to hear his lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the federal health-care law immediately received support from an unexpected corner Monday: The Donald.
In an interview on Greta Van Susteren’s “On the Record” on Fox News, Donald Trump and Van Susteren agreed that the Supreme Court should act to end uncertainty about the legality of the health-care overhaul by expediting review of the law.
Trump appeared on the show to talk about his presidential aspirations, the recent federal budget deal and his support for birther conspiracy theories.
But he and Van Susteren also spent some time discussing the health-care suits. While Cuccinelli's name did not come up, Trump said businesses are spending money preparing for the law’s implementation and the Supreme Court should take the case. Trump and Van Susteren agreed that Obama’s Justice Department should accede to immediate high court review.
Justices will meet Friday to discuss whether to grant a request from Cuccinelli that they review the case now, bypassing review by the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. They will decide whether to take the case and publicize their decision either Friday or Monday.
