Virginia will send withheld money to No.Va. transportation group

The Northern Virginia Transportation Commission expects to soon receive millions of dollars that had been withheld by the state.

The decision to release the money follows NVTC’s signing of an agreement earlier this week giving state officials more representation on local transit boards.

Kala Quintana, director of communications for NVTC, said the group has been told that $9.4 million of the operating assistance that was being withheld by the state will arrive Friday. The balance of the money NVTC is owed — $20.6 million — is expected to arrive Monday.
