Sen. James Webb campaigned Monday with the man he hopes will succeed him on Capitol Hill, former governor Timothy M. Kaine, as the two Virginia Democrats joined forces for a veterans’ roundtable in Tysons Corner.
Webb, a former Navy Secretary and accomplished author, has never been known as an enthusiastic campaigner, and so far he has done little in public to help out Kaine. But Webb suggested at Monday’s roundtable that that was about to change.
“Count on seeing me and this gentleman a lot over the next several months,” Webb said. After the event he reiterated, “I’ll do all I can to help,” though he said nothing else was planned at the moment.
