West Springfield Dance Team returns to national television

Members of Fairfax County’s West Springfield Dance Team, who became local celebrities after their Cinderella run to the top-ten finals of the national television show America’s Got Talent, are headed back to the small screen.

They’ve been invited to perform on the ABC talk show The View, said dance team parent Darla Torres, and on Sunday will board a chartered bus bound for New York.

Torres said the team’s live performance will air at 11 a.m. Monday — which happens to be Halloween. And that’s entirely appropriate.

The West Springfield team, after all, doesn’t wear tutus. A hip-hop troupe with a decidedly zombie edge, they specialize in dark, spooky costumes and electric choreography.

“We like to scare people,” one dance team member told the “America’s Got Talent” audience in August.
