The organizers of the 2012 DC Design House have selected 23 designers to participate in the makeover of 4951 Rockwood Parkway NW. There were 60 proposals submitted for the annual showcase of local design talent that opens to the public on April 14, according to DC Design House spokeswoman Sherry Moeller.

The event, which raises money for the Children’s National Medical Center, will transform the Spring Valley house, with its 10,000 square feet of seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, four fireplaces and beautiful azalea gardens.

Saturday, February 25 will be the annual Bare Bones Day when the house will be open for viewing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. before the designers begin their renovations and decorating. The cost is $5, which can be applied to the $20 ticket for the DC Design House main tour, April 14 to May 13.

You might catch us taking a sneak peak that day ourselves (dying to see the “befores” so we can fully appreciate the “afters”) so check back to this blog and see what we thought. Meanwhile, here’s a list of who was chosen this year. Have you worked with any of them?
