With hickory floors from Colorado, French doors and curved walls, this week’s featured home is anything but standard, says Akhsay Bhatnagar of Virginia Select Homes.

“It’s a custom house with a very European feel,” he said. “As soon as you go in, you feel like you’re in a French chateau.”

The 10,500-square-foot house was built in 2006. It has five bedrooms, as well as an exercise room, billards room and three-car garage.

A 30-foot long balcony off the master bedroom overlooks the home’s gardens.

But Bhatnagar says his favorite part of the home is the family room on the first floor.

“I love everything about that room,” he said. “It has a massive fireplace that’s more than 8 feet high, a great chandelier and limestone floors.”

The home is currently owned by Sheila T. Jahan, a neurologist with offices in Alexandria and Woodbridge. It is on the market for $3,995,000.
