The Washington Post

Show us your photo Valentine

View Photo Gallery: From Michelle Obama to a Lafayette Square regular, from Kennedy Center honoree Meryl Streep to kids in a back yard, Post photographer Marvin Joseph, born and bred in Washington, uses the city as his canvas. Here are a few of his favorites, with the stories behind them, as told to the Post’s David Beard.

If you haven’t seen it, check out Post photographer Marvin Joseph’s photo valentine to the District (above), where he grew up. He has put together a beautiful slide show of his favorite photos that capture the city — from the celebrities, like Maya Angelou and first lady Michelle Obama, to everyday life in all quadrants of the District.

It inspired us: If he can create a photographic valentine to the District, so can you. We already had great success in getting photos you took on Instagram. Now, let’s see your photo valentine of where you live — and in the caption, tell us what it is about the place that you love. Submit your photos in the gallery below.
