After yesterday’s practice, Wizards Coach Flip Saunders said he was going to hold his young players more accountable. We’ll see how that strategy plays out at today’s matinee against the Minnesota Timberwolves (2-5) at Verizon Center.

Saunders said rookie Jan Vesely is likely to make his debut. Jordan Crawford is looking to snap out of a slump, while Trevor Booker and Chris Singleton plan to continue bringing some hustle to the team.

Singleton will get his first career start against Minnesota, with Rashard Lewis out because of a sore right knee.

The Wizards will have their first opportunity to play against Minnesota rookie sensation Ricky Rubio. The Timberwolves drafted Rubio fifth overall in 2009 – using the pick they acquired in a pre-draft deal with the Wizards for Randy Foye and Mike Miller. After spending the past two years in Barcelona, Rubio is averaging 9.4 points and 6.7 assists in 28 minutes.
