The Wizards are 1-10 away from Verizon Center this season and will have a considerable challenge as they face their next five games on the road. They will start in Detroit, then head to Portland, the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah and Phoenix.

Of those teams, Phoenix and Detroit are the only teams with losing records, but the Pistons (8-20) are have won four in a row and claimed six of their wins at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

“It’s important to come out with a strong start,” Coach Randy Wittman said. “Anytime you face a five-game West Coast road trip, even though we’re starting on the East Coast here, it’s important to come out with a good effort the first time. It leads to positive things as this goes on. It’s an important first step for us.”

Wizards guard Jordan Crawford, a Detroit native, needed about 25 tickets for the game and JaVale McGee, a native of Flint, needed about 30. McGee brought up his AAU team, the Do The Right Thing All-Stars, down for the game.
