In the tumultuous Arab Spring, little has been heard from the oil-rich state of Kuwait, though protests have flared up in pockets since March. An opposition party has begun to call for Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to step down after 16 parliament members were accused of receiving about $350 million in bribes.
On Wednesday, the AFP reports that protesters started to march toward the prime minister’s residence but were beaten back by riot police. They turned toward the parliament instead.
