Actor Rob Lowe and his wife, Sheryl, have listed their custom-built mansion in Montecito, Calif., for $47 million. As reported by TopTenDeals.com, the 10,000-square-foot home near Santa Barbara sits on 3.4 acres of secluded land in a neighborhood with high-profile residents such as Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Born in Charlottesville, Lowe was a film star in his teens known for his roles in the films “The Outsiders” and “St. Elmo’s Fire.” As a TV star, he is perhaps best known for his roles as Sam Seaborn in “The West Wing” and Chris Traeger in “Parks and Recreation.”

Lowe’s Charlottesville roots inspired the house’s overall design. The wide porches lined with columns, bay windows and French doors are reminiscent of old Virginia manors. Architect Don Nulty, designer Kyle Irwin, landscape architect Mark Rios and feng shui master David Cho all helped create the home. “With our boys now out of the house, we’re looking forward to our next real estate adventure,” Lowe in a statement.

Indoors, the home has a Cape Cod aesthetic with wide-plank floor boards, clapboard-style wood paneling inside several rooms, wainscoting, coffered ceilings and classic dentil molding in the main living areas.

A kitchen on the main floor with high-end, standard-sized appliances accommodates family meals, while a separate, professional-grade kitchen with oversized appliances can host catered gatherings.

“The home is designed to be flexible based on the changing needs of who lives there,” listing agent Suzanne Perkins said in an interview. “The volume and space in each of the rooms are so dynamic that it would accommodate any kind of family or lifestyle, whether it’s cowboy boots, high heels or black tie.”

The home has all sorts of amenities inside and outside.
