We compiled a list of some of the most expensive homes for sale in the Washington area, using data from Rockville-based multiple-listing service Bright MLS. Listings range from $5.7 million for a penthouse overlooking the Potomac River on the Georgetown waterfront to $19.75 million for Cleremont Farm in Upperville, which includes six houses.

Cleremont Farm, a 1,511-acre estate, includes three contiguous farms with pastures, forests, fields, springs and ponds with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The grounds include gardens and orchards as well as a swimming pool. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
