Access to public transit is usually high on the wish list for many buyers, but proximity to Metro can come with a high price tag, particularly if you want to live close to the city. If you’re willing to live at the end of the Metro line, you may find more affordable options.

For example, the condo at 9480 Virginia Center Blvd., #329, in Vienna, located a short walk from the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro station, is priced at $389,900. The monthly condo fee is $576 and annual property taxes are $3,750. The median sales price for a home in Fairfax County was $574,500 in March, according to Bright MLS.

Assigned schools include Marshall Road Elementary, Thoreau Middle and Madison High. The elementary school is rated below average by, while the middle and high schools are rated about average.
