President Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus package has passed both the House and the Senate.

The American Rescue Plan authorizes a third round of stimulus checks to millions of low- and middle-income Americans, making it one of the largest federal responses to the economic downturn caused by the pandemic. Experts estimate the plan will reduce the number of Americans living in poverty by a third. Biden is expected to sign the plan into law this week.

The Washington Post’s Jeff Stein and Michelle Singletary answered reader questions about the sweeping package. Stein is the White House economics reporter for The Post and has been closely covering the stimulus plan. Singletary writes the nationally syndicated personal finance column The Color of Money.
