In town through Feb. 10, the Washington Auto Show is the city’s largest annual public show, this year bringing in more than 700 cars from about 40 automakers. The event traces its roots all the way back to 1921, when a group of 20 local car dealers held the first show to promote travel via horseless carriage. This week, hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected to stop by to see new vehicles, concept cars, emerging technologies and celebrity guests, ranging from Captain Planet to WWE stars. There will also be car-themed contests and test drive areas where visitors can take a spin in some of the latest models from the likes of Volkswagen, Toyota and Cadillac.
