The Virginia Economic Development Partnership – International Trade is holding a workshop Tuesday on its “Going Global Defense Initiative.”

According to the VEDP, $1.5 million in federal funds is available to help the state’s defense-related companies diversify into new international markets. Eligible companies can receive assistance with marketing, strategy, compliance and matchmaking services to increase international sales.

The half-day event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Dr., McLean. Free, with registration.

The Northern Virginia Community College Annandale Campus is hosting a workshop on the “Impact of the Affordable Care Act on Your Business.” Julie Verratti of the Small Business Administration is to speak. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. at the school’s CN Building, Room 114, 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale. $75.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

The Maryland Women’s Business Center is hosting a seminar on “Making the Most of a Networking Event.” The event begins at 10 a.m. at the MWBC, 95 Monroe St., Rockville.

The George Mason Center for Social Entrepre-neurship and Arlington Economic Development continue their weekly Summer 2013 Venture Camp Entrepre-neurship Series. Jonathan Aberman, managing director of Amplifier Ventures, will talk about “Immigration and Entrepreneur­­­-ship.” The event begins at 6 p.m. at George Mason’s Founders Hall 3351 Fairfax Dr., Arlington.
