General Dynamics plans to dismiss about one-third of the workforce at its Woodbridge facility following the cancellation of the Marine Corps’ Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle program early this year.
The company distributed layoff notices to 112 employees Tuesday, and the employees are expected to leave July 1, said Marie Remboulis, a spokeswoman for General Dynamics’ land systems division.
“We have begun the process of reducing the size of the workforce at the Woodbridge facility,” she said.
The remaining employees will complete the EFV work on contract and ready for a new Marine Corps program, said Remboulis. She declined to speculate about whether there will be additional layoffs.
