Reston-based HireStrategy has been acquired by Addison Group, a Chicago-based staffing and recruiting firm, the companies announced Monday.

The deal will allow HireStrategy, one of the region’s largest staffing firms, to grow its Washington area operations to include a new office in Rockville and expanded offices in Reston and the District.

The companies did not disclose the terms of the deal.

Paul Villella, HireStrategy’s founder and chief executive, will continue in his role, as will the rest of his senior leadership team. HireStrategy will retain its name and brand.

Villella said that the deal has been “in the works for quite some time.” Addison Group had been eager to have a presence in the Washington region, he said, but thought it would take too long to build a shop here.

“That’s why we were a great match for them,” Villella said. “They did not feel that they could come into this market and grow it organically.”

Addison Group has staffing outposts in cities including Austin, Houston and Denver. The company, owned by private-
equity firm Trilantic Capital Partners, has added HireStrategy as part of a broader strategic push to expand its East Coast presence.

Villella said that after HireStrategy’s expansion in the Washington area, he’ll be looking at growing the business throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

HireStrategy was founded in 2000 and focuses on staffing positions in technology, finance, human resources, sales and marketing. It pulls in more revenue than any other staffing firm, Villella said.
