Acquisitions

Silver Spring-based media company Discovery Communications said it will acquire the SBS Nordic operations of German television company ProSidebanSat.1 Group in a $1.7 billion deal.

Fairfax-based technology contractor SRA International said it has completed its previously announced acquisition of the national security solutions unit from Tysons Corner-based business consulting firm MorganFranklin. Terms were not disclosed.

Charlotte-based Wells Fargo Asset Management said that it has acquired a minority stake in District-based investment and advisory firm Rock Creek Group. Terms were not disclosed.

District-based private equity giant Carlyle Group said it has acquired a 47.5 percent stake in Texas-based energy investor NGP Capital Management for $424 million.

Oxnard, Calif.-based CalAmp, a developer of fleet-tracking software, is to acquire the Wireless Matrix USA subsidiary from Herndon-based software company Wireless Matrix for $53 million in cash.

Expansions

Bethesda-based health care company Chindex International said it has opened a clinic in Beijing.

Alexandria-based security technology contractor Mandiant said it will open a development facility in Reston at 12012 Sunset Hills Rd., Seventh Floor, Reston, VA 20190.

Gainesville-based Gainesville Holistic Health Center has opened an office at 8006 Crescent Park Dr., Gainesville, VA 20155.

Funding

Gaithersburg-based DioGenix, a developer of molecular tests to detect neurological diseases and disorders, said it has raised $1.5 million in a second round of funding.

Moves

Germantown-based Genesis Security Systems has moved its headquarters to 20310 Seneca Meadows Pkwy., Germantown, MD 20876.
