The Virginia Innovation Partnership is holding its day-long Virginia Ventures Forum Friday.

The event is to showcase recently funded projects and to bring corporate and venture capital funders together with new ventures.

Angel Cabrera, president of George Mason University, is to give the keynote. Other speakers include Virginia Gov. Robert F. McDonnell and Matt Erskine, deputy assistant secretary of the Commerce Department.

The forum begins at 8 a.m. at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s National Inventors Hall of Fame and Museum, Madison Auditorium North, 600 Dulany St., Alexandria. Free, with registration.

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce is holding a forum on the “State of Innovation in Education.” Speakers include Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Edgar B. Hatrick III and Julie A. Leidig of Northern Virginia Community College. The event begins at 8 a.m. at Loudoun County Public Schools Administration Building, 21000 Education Ct., Ashburn. $40 for members, $60 for everyone else.

Thursday, Sept. 5

The Prince William Chamber of Commerce is hosting Gerry Peters of Manassas-based ActionCoach, who will conduct a leadership training seminar. The event begins at 7:45 a.m. at the chamber’s offices at 9720 Capital Ct., Suite 203, Manassas. $25 for members, $50 for everyone else.

Friday, Sept. 6

The Northern Virginia Technology Council will host Joe Jordan of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, who is to talk about the direction of federal acquisitions. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. at Northrop Grumman, 7575 Colshire Dr., McLean. $45 for members, $75 for everyone else.
