There’s a lot of talk about the importance of teaching your kids to code. But how do you go about it? One way is to teach kids the basics and share the good feeling that comes with having created something independently. The Foos is an app for kids that uses a visual language to help them learn the logic of coding. It also lets them create their own video game levels and share those creations with the world.

This can be done as a guest — no registration is required unless the user wants to access saved game levels across devices. So if you’re happy sticking to one device, you don’t have to tell the app anything about yourself. The app will even randomly generate an alias for you.

Free, for iOS and Android devices, including the Kindle Fire.
